Artistree Community Arts Center

The scope of the project included repurposing a historic barn and accompanying house into useable classroom and office spaces for a Community Arts Center formerly located in Woodstock.
Work on the barn included gutting the structure down to the original timber frame and sheathing. Once the barn was gutted it was jacked off of its foundation and the first floor wall framing was removed. A new foundation and slab was poured and new first floor walls were installed to replace the old rotting frame. The building is constructed with R-36 rigid wall insulation installed on the outside of the sheathing and R-60 foam in place roof insulation and the construction was air tested to ensure a tight building envelope. Much of the interior of the old barn structure is left exposed in order to keep the barn feel. Floor finishes include exposed concrete, VCT and hardwood sports flooring for the performance areas. Other work in includes all new mechanical and electrical systems, new siding, new windows and doors, new standing seam roofing, an elevator, veneer plaster walls and painting.
